Book Launch for Becoming Neighbours: Five Values for a World of Welcome (Oct 2021)

A book launch and conversation between author Anika Bauman and panel of former neighbours, Aida, Amina, Marcelo, Saima, Thariki, and Yar. I hosted our discussion of the 5 values that sustain their shared life and facilitated their storytelling about what it's looked like for them at Kinbrace Community Society in Vancouver.

Refugees and Borders: Remapping the World We Think We Know (Dec 2020)

Public webinar that included a screening of Borderstory, an expert panel (Efrat Arbel, Kristi Pinderi, Hassan al Kontar, Ted Alden, and Carlo Handy Charles), and public dialogue facilitated by Saleem Spindari.

This December 2020 event was hosted by Kinbrace and co-sponsored by DIVERSEcity, VanCity, MOSAIC, Rainbow Refugee, Journey Home, UBC Public Humanities, UBC Centre for Migration Studies, UBC WUSC, Liu Institute for Global Studies, SFU International. It drew 200+ participants.

Growing Capacity for Refugee Welcome: Stories, Culture, and Discourse (June 2019)

A plenary talk at Connected, Empowered, and Media Literate: Changing the Portrayal of Refugees in the Media, a provincial consultation hosted by BC Refugee Hub, Vancouver Immigration Partnership, Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, and the UBC Migration Cluster.
